Preschool to 1st & Grades 2nd to 5th
Sunday, 9:45-10:45 am
Our Sunday School program at Grace Episcopal Church introduces children to Christian teachings, Bible stories, and the fundamentals of religious worship. Through classroom learning, outreach projects, drama, music, and participation in parish activities, we hope that our students will form a long lasting connection with church and faith.
Classes are taught by parents and parishioners using new curriculum this year. We currently have two classes for our Christian Formation program.
Preschool – 1st graders use the Hands on Bible Curriculum, listening to stories and playing games or acting them out for better understanding.
2nd – 5th graders use a curriculum called Buzz in which they play bonding games and do various activities to better understand the bible, including drawing comic strips, playing games, and deliberating ethical questions.
Teachers bring all of the children back to the 10am service in time to receive The Sacrament with their families.
All of our Sunday school students may participate in our annual Christmas Pageant. This dramatic portrayal of the nativity story is always a heartwarming event and a perfect way to celebrate the season.
Each year during Mardi Gras season our students sponsor a fundraiser to give Easter baskets to the needy. They raise money by selling baked goods, flowers, and other items. All the money raised is used to purchase items to put into the Eater baskets that are donated. This project connects the teachings of the Bible with hands on service.
